Her mother Cynthia Louise Bissett vice president of mobile company Verizon. Her father was businessman Joseph Anthony Germanotta Jr. Director of an Internet-based networking company. The family she grew up with was Catholic and she grew up on the Upper East Side in Manhattan. She was enrolled by her parents at the Convent of the Sacred Heart which was a prestigious, religious and exclusive school. Since she was young she's been a music lover. She began to play piano in the very beginning and wrote her first song of original composition when she was thirteen. Nights at open mics were her absolute favorite. Her favorite singers included queen Michael Jackson Madonna, David Bowie. After high school, she entered the New York University's Tisch School of Art to pursue a degree in music. However, after high school she decided to pursue a musical career and resigned from the study.
